I work quite closely with a local recruitment consultancy and cover most of the event photography they require. Most of their events are workshop for their candidates. These are aimed at women who tend to have been out of work primarily to have family. Because of this, they often need some help not only with finding a job but finding their confidence and identity to succeed back in the work place.
Emma at Ten2Two is amazing at running these regular workshops. She drafts in local business women to speak and inspire her candidates. The sessions buzz...
I held my mini Christmas sessions again this year but this time I thought I would tie them in with a local preschool I work with. We had been struggling with their winter childrens shoot, it just wasn't working as well as we wanted. So I came up with the idea of offering family shoots at the weekend to the parents instead to see how that fared. I didn't have time to do as much promotion on the event as I would have liked but I still managed to fill most if the slots. Children of all ages attended with their siblings and in some case both parents too, so I had some...
When I was asked to capture Anna and Matt's wedding I was so thrilled.
Firstly because they were getting married in Rye, a beautiful town near the coast. I thought the cobbled streets and architecture would be simply amazing. Secondly, October makes for beautiful light if we were lucky enough to see some sun that day! And thirdly because they were a referral from another couples wedding. I can't tell you how much that meant to me. The wedding photography business is a tough area with lots of fantastic photographers out there. So to have a couple attending a wedding I am shooting...
It's not often I describe a wedding as fun, usually romantic or intimate but the wedding I photographed a couple of weeks ago was fun, fun, fun all the way.
I met Kate and Craig at a wedding fair at the beginning of the year and we clicked straight away - I wanted to photograph their wedding. I say their wedding, they were already married! This was a blessing and celebration for their family and friends who couldn't be at their small, low key wedding the previous year. Kate is an Aussie and obviously had lots of relatives and mates to celebrate with. They didn't let them down - the theme...
I had an absolute blast on the Bluebell sessions this year, I have met up with new families and some I have met before.
The bluebells were a bit slow in showing this year, I had to delay the first weeks sessions. The weather had also been so wet that I was worried the shoot would be a mud bath rather than a pretty spring affair! Once the bluebells were finally showing their faces I was able to take the photo's of ten families over four days - it was hard work but so very enjoyable.
The woods at Nymans are such an adventure playground for children they were entertained from start to finish,...
I was so excited when my friend Gill asked me if I would take some pictures of her newborn son Rocco, especially given that her husband is a photographer (albeit a sports photographer but even so!). I really wanted to try some of the posed positions that we all see on the internet.
I have taken a few baby shoots now and each has been a learning curve. I have now realised that I am not as confident with other peoples babies as I was with my own and have been a little tentative in the past. It really helped that I knew Gill and being her third baby she was quite gungho! Rocco was so beautiful...
I've been a bit lax in updating my blog of late so I am going to try to keep it as up to date as I possibly can going forwards. Here is the link for my latest newsletter http://eepurl.com/bXNjjj.
I spent most of the Easter holidays in Sri Lankan which was absolutely amazing. I took my camera with me and happen to spot a wedding couple having their photo's taken whilst I was having lunch - I couldn't resist! I think I spotted in this one though...:) This bride was beautiful and the setting, by the sea on the walls of an old Dutch fort in Galle was just perfect. Hot but perfect.
